Single case or N = 1 designs in psychology are used to study change in an individual in a specific period of time. In this tutorial we discuss the basic idea’s behind single case designs and introduce the scda package in R which enables researchers to analyses their single case data, with a number of different analysis tools. The scda package contains tools for analyzing single case data that were described previously in the literature, a few extensions from existing methods, but also some novel methods. Furthermore, attention is paid to power analyses, which are described for a few situations.
